SUMMARY
Reintroducing a Pinball Classic
When American Pinball prepared to unveil its reimagining of the iconic Cirqus Voltaire, the launch needed to feel as spectacular as the game itself. Funworks Media helped bring the launch to life across American Pinball's digital ecosystem - from capturing more than 200 professional product photos, to filming and editing the promo video, to developing the digital experience surrounding the new game and supporting its launch across Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn. The result was a coordinated campaign that generated a major surge in website traffic, reached tens of thousands of people through social media, and provided American Pinball, its distributors, and industry publications with a library of professional marketing assets.
THE PROJECT
Reintroducing a Pinball Classic
Cirqus Voltaireâ„¢ isn't just another pinball machine.
Originally released in 1997, the game developed a passionate following among collectors and players. American Pinball's reimagined release brought the title into the modern era with updated technology, lighting, displays, audio, artwork, and gameplay enhancements.
At the center of the launch was the Ringmaster Edition, a limited production run of just 772 individually numbered machines worldwide.
The challenge was making sure the marketing surrounding the launch captured the same level of detail, color, and spectacle that went into the machine itself.
THE APPROACH
Crafting the Product Experience
Rather than treating photography, website development, and social media as separate deliverables, Funworks Media approached Cirqus Voltaireâ„¢ as one connected product launch.
The goal was to create a library of high-quality content, build a digital destination around the product, and distribute that story across the channels where pinball fans were already paying attention.
Capturing the Show
Cirqus Voltaireâ„¢ is a visually complex game.
Its lighting, artwork, dimensional elements, and illuminated features are a major part of the experience, which meant the photography needed to capture more than what the machine looked like sitting in a room.
Funworks Media photographed the game extensively, capturing full-machine hero images alongside detailed photography of the playfield, artwork, lighting, cabinet, topper, sculpts, and unique Ringmaster Edition features.
More than 200 finished, high-resolution photographs were delivered to American Pinball.
But the value of the shoot extended beyond American Pinball's own marketing.
One photoshoot could now support:
• Website product pages
• Social media content
• Dealer and distributor marketing
• Industry publications
• News and launch coverage
• Future promotional materials
Instead of capturing photography for a single campaign or social post, the shoot produced a library of assets that could continue supporting the product throughout its lifecycle; showcasing the game's lighting and visual experience in a way that translated through user's screens.
In addition, American Pinball made the photography available to distributors and industry publications, giving its partners access to professional launch assets and helping create a consistent visual presentation of the new game throughout the pinball industry.
Building the Digital Destination Before the Spotlight Arrived
The Cirqus Voltaireâ„¢ launch also benefited from a much larger digital project. In July 2026, Funworks Media launched an entirely new website for American Pinball, creating a modern digital foundation designed not only to showcase the company's games, but to support major product launches like this one. When Cirqus Voltaireâ„¢ was ready to be revealed, that infrastructure was already in place. For the launch, Funworks Media created multiple touchpoints throughout the website to make the new game impossible to miss:
Sitewide Announcement Banner
A prominent announcement banner at the very top of the website gave visitors an immediate entry point into the launch, regardless of which page brought them to American Pinball.
Homepage Hero
Cirqus Voltaireâ„¢ took over the primary hero area of the homepage, putting the new game and its photography front and center for visitors arriving at American Pinball.
Dedicated Game Page
We developed a complete Cirqus Voltaireâ„¢ game page where collectors could explore the machine, view the new photography, learn about its features and editions, and take the next step toward purchasing.
News & Launch Content
Supporting articles were published through American Pinball's News section, giving the launch additional destinations for announcements, product details, updates, and stories that could be shared through social media, search, and industry coverage.
Together, these touchpoints created a connected path through the website.
Someone discovering the launch through social media or search could land on an article, encounter the announcement banner, explore the homepage, and ultimately reach the dedicated game page.
Someone visiting American Pinball directly couldn't miss that something new had launched.
Instead of simply adding a new product page, we turned the website into an active part of the launch strategy—using multiple entry points to move attention toward Cirqus Voltaire at the moment interest was at its highest.
And when that attention arrived, the website was ready for it.
On August 26, launch day, American Pinball recorded 2,695 new website users - more than 20× its pre-launch daily average.
Turning a Product Launch Into an Ongoing Conversation
A successful product launch doesn't happen with a single announcement. Funworks Media supported American Pinball's Cirqus Voltaireâ„¢ launch and ongoing marketing across Facebook and Instagram, using professional photography, video, launch announcements, feature highlights, behind-the-scenes content, and stories about the people behind the game.
The initial Cirqus Voltaireâ„¢ launch post generated more than:
• 6400+ views
• 220+ likes
• 12 saves
• 7 reposts
But some of the strongest engagement came as the story continued. A follow-up post days after the initial launch reached more than 65,500 views across Facebook and Instagram, generating:
• 700+ likes
• 125+ comments
• 15+ shares
• 14 new followers
That single post generated more than 10× the views of the initial launch post, demonstrating the value of continuing to tell the story after announcement day rather than relying on one launch post to do all the work.
The impact wasn't limited to views and engagement. During the first seven days following the August 26 launch, Organic Social generated 1,923 website sessions—28% of all website traffic during the period. That made Organic Social one of American Pinball's three largest website traffic channels during launch week, alongside Organic Search and Direct traffic, and made social media not simply a place to announce the new machine, but an ongoing conversation that became a significant source of traffic back to American Pinball's new website.
THE RESULT
A Successful Campaign
Cirqus Voltaire officially launched on August 26, 2026.
During the nine days immediately preceding the announcement, American Pinball's website averaged approximately 131 new users per day.
On launch day, the website recorded:
2,695 New Users
That's more than 20× the pre-launch daily average.
And the attention didn't disappear after announcement day.
During the first seven days beginning August 26, American Pinball's website attracted 5,009 new users across 6,861 sessions.
That's an average of approximately 716 new users per day during launch week—more than 5× the daily average immediately preceding the launch.
